Alleged Urbana Murderer Held In Champaign On $1 Million Bond

Keith Campbell, 29, of Urbana, was arrested in Chicago by federal marshals earlier this month for the murder of a Champaign man, Martez Taylor, 27. He is currently being held in the Champaign County Jail with a $1 million bond.

The shooting occurred on July 21, 2018 outside a home in the 1900 block of East Florida Avenue. Taylor was allegedly sitting in a car, waiting to leave a party where he was allegedly involved in a fight with Campbell. He was then allegedly shot repeatedly outside the house by Campbell at around 12:40 a.m.

In October 2019, co-defendant Cory Jackson, 33, was acquitted by a jury, who refused to hold him accountable for Campbell's alleged actions in Taylor's murder. Campbell was arraigned by Judge Adam Dill Wednesday on four counts of first-degree murder. If convicted, Cambell will face 45 to 85 years in prison.
